This can probably go into the bulging Too Much Information pile, but there is something unpleasant going on with my right boob. Now, this boob has been a trouble-maker from the very start. For some reason, Amelie was never able to latch onto it properly, hence we ended up with blood on her face at dinner time. That was the last straw for me and the point at which I switched over to expressing. Dracula baby is not a good look for a newborn.
So now, stupid Right Boob, which is slightly bigger than Left Boob and normally yields a generous 80ml is sore as hell and feels uncomfortably full. Plus the milk is only trickling out and I’m lucky if I get 50ml.
I’ve been googling it and I think it might be a blocked duct. Ouch. I don’t think it’s the dreaded mastitis, thank jaysus, because the symptoms for that sound way more severe than what I’m dealing with. Apparently it should sort itself out over the next 48 hours so I’m not legging it to the doctor’s or anything.
I suspect that I may have brought this on myself by leaving it too long to pump during the last two days. This was a combination of laziness and drinking, innit, so karma is probably having its way with me for being a bad, champagne-drinking mummy who says ‘sure pour me another one, I’ll pump and dump and just give her formula tonight.’
